Taller or wider custom frames can be manufactured to accommodate specialized sample sizes – contact us for custom frame specifications.

Compression Test Machine & Tensile Strength Machines

A compression Testing Machine (CTM) is used to measure the compressive strength of a material. The CTM is designed to apply a compressive load to the sample until it fails. A universal testing machine (UTM), also known as a universal tester, materials testing machine or materials test frame, is used to test the tensile strength and compressive strength of materials.

What happens after you enquire

When you enquire about the DFM Series, our United Testing Systems specialists will confirm your typical test force range (helping you choose between DFM-100, 150, 300 or 600), your specific sample geometries and whether standard or custom frame dimensions are needed, which standards you test to so DragonFly UTS can be pre-configured with the correct test methods, and what expansion channels you need at day one versus adding later.

For purchasing teams, we provide the SKU (once populated), quotation turnaround and technical documentation for internal sign-off – including foundation loading data, power supply requirements, and lead time confirmation.

Service, warranty and ongoing support

Every DFM Series machine is supplied with a 1 year parts and labour warranty as standard – our Industrial Physics group commitment across all brands. Ongoing support focuses on load cell recalibration (typically annual per ASTM E4 / ISO 7500-1), DragonFly UTS software updates, additional test method configuration for new standards or customer specifications, and plug-and-play expansion module addition. To arrange service, order load cells, grips or fixtures, or discuss expansion module configuration, contact our support team.

Beyond the warranty period, the Industrial Physics global service network provides advice on test method interpretation across ASTM, ISO, BS, EN, GB, DIN standards, cross-verification between DFM Series and other UTS product ranges (DSTM 5-25 kN, DTM 50-100 kN, DHFM 600-2000 kN), and integrating the DFM into a documented QC workflow.
