Exploring the Systech EC900 Process Oxygen Analyser: Features, Applications & Demonstration

Fast & Accurate Process Oxygen Analysis | Systech EC900

Overview

The Systech EC900 Process Oxygen Analyser is a high-performance electrochemical oxygen analyser designed for continuous oxygen process analysis in industrial gas streams and atmospheres. In this video, you’ll see how the EC900 operates, what makes it a reliable choice for quality control and process monitoring teams, and how its patented sensor technology delivers accurate, low-maintenance oxygen measurement down to 20ppm from ambient air in two minutes.

Key Features of the EC900

  • Electrochemical fuel cell technology – patented sensors unaffected by hydrocarbons or volatile atmospheres
  • Measures oxygen levels as low as 20ppm from ambient air in two minutes
  • Multiple configurations: NEMA 4X/IP66 weatherproof, 19-inch rack mount, and UL/CUL approved Ex-proof
  • Built-in bypass flowmeter, pressure regulator, sample pump, and flow alarm
  • Fault alarms with high/low alarm options as standard
  • Sensor life typically 3-5 years in normal operating range – no caustic electrolyte to monitor
  • Maintenance-free with infrequent calibration requirements
  • Three-year limited warranty
  • User-friendly menu interface with diagnostic capability

Understanding Electrochemical Oxygen Process Analysis

Controlling oxygen levels in industrial process environments is critical across a wide range of applications. In electronics manufacturing, oxygen contamination during soldering or reflow causes oxidation that affects component reliability. In inert atmosphere processing – such as the annealing of metals or the heat treatment of precision components – even low levels of oxygen intrusion can cause surface defects and quality failures. In food processing and pharmaceutical packaging, maintaining the correct oxygen environment directly affects product shelf life and safety.

The EC900 series uses electrochemical fuel cell technology to detect oxygen. When oxygen diffuses to the cathode of the cell, a current output is produced directly proportional to the oxygen concentration in the sample gas. Systech’s patented sensor design is unaffected by hydrocarbons or volatile atmospheres – a significant advantage in industrial environments where background gases such as wave solder flux or reflow oven atmosphere would interfere with alternative sensor technologies.

A key advantage of the EC900 is its recovery speed. The EC913 variant is the only electrochemical fuel cell-based oxygen analyser capable of measuring ppm levels within seconds of re-exposure to ambient air, after an oxygen-free chamber has been opened for maintenance or product swaps. Alternative analysers require hours or days of nitrogen purging before they can read at ppm levels again – creating costly downtime in production environments where uptime matters.
