DIN 54518 is a global DIN international standard that will help you to determine the compression strength of paper and board using a short span compression tester.
Following this DIN short-span compression test (SCT) you’ll measure the compressive strength of paper by inserting a single piece of liner board, corrugated paper or similar between pneumatic clamps. These are precisely aligned to produce a sample free length of only 0.7mm. Your sample is then axially compressed until it reaches the point of failure.
Short-span compression testing is often used as a replacement for edgewise compression testing and it’s a great way to predict the compressive strength of corrugated paper. Determination of the compressive resistance has also now become established as an alternative to the ring crush test.
So, how can Industrial Physics improve your DIN 54518 crush testing?
Our experts can help you choose the best compression testers to meet your requirements. Have a unique request? We can configure a solution for you. Simply let us know the size, geometry, and strength characteristics of your samples. We’ll then identify the right machine and compression plates needed to crush your samples, giving you the highly accurate test data you need to improve your processes.
Crush Tester 17-56
The Crush Test is designed as a robust, easy-to-use instrument. Exactly what you need when performing crush tests. The Crush Tester is suitable for a wide variety of samples, including corrugated board, tubes, corrugated paper and plastics. The accuracy is achieved with a precision load cell, which is even accurate at low force values
We’ve learnt a thing or two about compression testing over the decades. Now Industrial Physics is recognized as a brand that likes to bring new, innovative crush testers and compression testing equipment to market.
We like to share our knowledge and we’re here to help you to answer your questions about crush resistance testing. Across the knowledgebase section of our website we publish lots of blogs on related subjects.
