TMI Büchel Internal Bond Tester 80-26

A useful internal bond tester designed to determine the internal bond strength of paper and board materials in the Z direction. Assess the internal bond strength of paper and board specimens to a high level of accuracy.

Description

Test to determine internal bond strength

The Internal Bond Tester 80-26 from TMI Büchel offers a straightforward testing solution to determine the internal bond strength of paper and board materials in the Z direction. It uses a falling pendulum to test how much energy is required to delaminate the internal fibers of bonded paper samples.

Pendulums are sold separately and there are a range to choose from, so you can specify the right one for your paper testing QA process.

Internal bond testing to international standards

The Internal BondTM Tester is designed to determine the internal bond strength of a variety of paper and board materials according to TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260. These are the widely accepted international testing standards for ways to measure the energy required to rapidly delaminate a test piece of paper or cardboard.

Materials for internal bond testing

This internal bond testing machine can be used to test newsprint, fine paper, liner board, book stock, carton board, corrugated paper, medium, coatings and laminates.

How the Internal Bond Tester 80-26 works

The instrument design is based on a falling pendulum, which creates a high-speed impact on a paper specimen. The paper specimen is sandwiched between two double-coated tape substrates. The pendulum impact measures the total energy required to delaminate the internal fibers of a specimen in a “Z” type direction into two plies.

GraphMaster Pro software

The Internal Bond Tester 80-26 is compatible with GraphMaster Pro software, which means that the data from your test is immediately available on your PC. It can then be easily analyzed, stored and translated into a professional report.

Pendulum ranges

There are several Pendulum ranges available:

  • 0 – 841 J/m² (0 -400 ft.lb x 10-3)
  • 315 – 1575 J/m² (150 – 750 ft.lb x 10-3)
  • 420 – 2100 J/m² (200 – 1000 ft.lb x 10-3)

Pendulums must be ordered separately, please specify when ordering. A pendulum is required for the operation of the unit.

We also stock an Internal Bond Sample Prep Station, to make preparing your samples for testing even easier.
