ISO 4593:1993 is a global ISO testing standard for thickness testing of plastic films and sheeting using a mechanical scanning device, such as a digital micrometer.
At Industrial Physics we make thickness testing devices for all types of applications and for many different industries. This includes a range of different digital micrometer equipment.
We make thickness testing devices to inspect the average thickness of a sample and the yield of a roll using gravimetric thickness testing techniques. The ISO 4593:1993 thickness test is accurate and adaptable, but it’s not possible to test embossed films or sheeting.
To carry out a successful 4593:1993 thickness test, first up you’ll need a suitable measuring device such as a digital micrometer. You’ll need to create and work with defect and crease free sample strips about 100mm wide.
To prepare a complete a ISO 4593:1993 thickness testing report you’ll need to include the following information as a minimum:
a) Full identification of the thickness test sample
b) Type of measuring faces and the load and length of the sample
c) Number of test strips
d) The arithmetic mean of the individual measurements
e) Total number of measurements made
To carry out a successful ISO 4593:1993 thickness test you’ll need the following kit:
Thickness-measuring device: capable of measuring to the following accuracies:
Test specimens: cut your thickness testing samples approximately 100 mm wide, across the whole width of the sample.
A successful ISO 4593:1993 test report needs to include the following information:
So, how can Industrial Physics improve your ISO 4593:1993 thickness testing?
