Introducing ISO 16276-1 – Industrial Physics

ISO 16276-1 is an international ISO standard that’s used to measure the corrosion protection of steel structures by protective paint systems.  

This ISO method details procedures that can be used to assess the fracture strength of a protective paint coating of any thickness on most steel substrates – if they’re less than 10mm. 

The ISO 16276-1 procedures

The ISO 16276-1 procedures are based on methods used with different types of pull-off testing equipment. The results obtained using such different types of equipment are not comparable. 

Within the ISO 16276-1 standard you’ll also find information on the types of equipment to use and defined inspection areas, sampling plans and acceptance/rejection criteria. However, it doesn’t give any values of the fracture strength of different protective paint coatings.
