Introducing SCAN P34 – Industrial Physics

SCAN P34 is a crush testing standard that was developed to measure the compressive strength of corrugated paper samples using a crush tester.  

Crush testing is a reliable and accurate testing method to determine the strength of corrugated paper. This type of compression testing is favored by research and development experts, and is an essential component of a solid corrugated, paper and board quality assurance process.  

Crush testing methods and standards were created to develop a common basis for communication between corrugated manufacturers and their customers. What is corrugated crush testing? 

The crush test resistance of corrugated board is the maximum compressive force that a test piece will sustain before being crushed. To carry out a compression test you’ll need to stand your sample on one edge and apply force to the opposite edge under specified conditions.
