Spring Testing
Spring testing on a universal test machine involves measuring the mechanical properties of a spring as they relate to load and displacement in static testing applications. For example, a universal test machine can be used to measure things such as the height of a spring, the Spring Rate, load at specific displacements (50% height), and related measurements. A manufacturer or designer may want to determine if a batch of springs is of good enough quality to be used in final assembly. Using a universal test machine, they could run the spring to a specific displacement and measure the load. If the load is lower or higher than expected the spring may be rejected. United offers a wide selection of highly accurate test frames, loadcells and fixtures to help you perform accurate and repeatable spring testing. It should be noted that dynamic testing of springs, i.e., how they perform after several thousand tension and compression cycles are performed on a different type of test system, not a universal test machine.
