Introducing TAPPI T205 – Industrial Physics

TAPPI T 205 is an industrial testing method that guides the forming of handsheets for physical tests of pulp. 

TAPPI is the technical arm of the American Paper & Pulp Association (APPA), and it gathers and disseminates information concerning production matters. 

The TAPPI T 205 test documents describe a method of forming test handsheets at an oven dry weight of 60 g/m2 in order to determine the physical properties of pulp. The procedure can be used for both unrefined and refined pulps.  

The purpose of TAPPI T205 pulp testing

The results you collect from handsheet samples during a TAPPI T205 pulp test can help you to describe the properties of market pulps. TAPPI T 205 pulp testing also enables you to determine the makeup of mixtures of hardwood/softwood, or of fiber species, in your efforts to produce the desired properties for machine made papers.
