Introducing DIN 53232– Industrial Physics

DIN 53232 is a national testing standard that helps you to evaluate the adhesion properties of paints, varnishes and similar coatings using the pull-off adhesion testing approach.

DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V.), a German standardization body, has developed the use, rules, guidelines and characteristics of around 30,000 testing standards.

What is pull-off adhesion testing?

Pull-off adhesion testing is a useful paint testing method to measure the resistance of a coating to separation from a substrate, when a perpendicular tensile force is applied. There’s a range of substrate materials that this type of paint adhesion test is usually performed on, including metals, plastics, concrete, wood and glass.

The pull-off adhesion test typically involves a digital or manual pull-off adhesion testing machine with a dolly.

Industrial Physics’ paint testing devices

So, how can Industrial Physics improve your DIN 53232 paint adhesion testing?

TQC Sheen Automatic Cupping Tester

The TQC Sheen Automatic Cupping Tester was designed for reliable cupping (Erichsen / Dent) testing on coated steel panels to define the resistance of paint, varnish or related products to cracking and/or detachment when subjected to gradual deformation by indentation under standard conditions.
