Standards
The Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC governs the use of electrical equipment with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V (alternating current A.C.) and between 75 and 1500 V (direct current (D.C.).
This Low Voltage Directive (LVD) applies to the vast majority of electrical equipment in everyday use. It sets out essential protection requirements for consumers, with the relevant technical details being defined by standards-making organizations.
Industrial Physics has been making test and measurement devices to support electronics testing towards directives like the LVD for many years.
You can only sell electrical equipment legally if it does not endanger the safety of persons, domestic animals or property. There are 11 principal safety objectives listed in the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
The Low Voltage Directive isn’t designed to impose safety standards, its primary purpose is to ensure free trade through the removal of technical barriers. Conformity with the standards isn’t compulsory, it’s more a means for manufacturers to demonstrate compliance with the safety principles enshrined in the directive.
Systech 8700 & 8701 OxySense® Oxygen Permeability Analyser
Brought to you by Systech, our specialist gas, oxygen, and moisture testing brand, this oxygen transmission rate analyzer is simple to operate, lowers testing costs and increases productivity. With ultra fast testing using Systech’ Turbopurge™ technology this oxygen permeability tester can efficiently test up to 11 samples (expandable to 66) simultaneously in as little as three hours.
We’ve learnt a thing or two about testing electronic devices over the decades and we like to share our knowledge. Across the knowledge base of our website we publish lots of blogs on related subjects. For example, here’s an Industrial Physics blog that explores how high humidity affects electronics. Then, for a detailed overview of different test types of electronic devices and components, check out our Complete Guide to Electronics Testing.
