ISO 11127-6

Introducing ISO 11127-6- Industrial Physics

ISO 11127-6 is a global ISO testing standard that will help you to prepare steel substrates before you apply paints, inks and coatings.  

Use this ISO standard to measure the level of water-soluble contaminants in non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives by their conductivity. ISO 11127-6 is one of a number of parts in the ISO 11127 testing series that deals with the sampling and testing of non-metallic abrasives. 

What are the other parts of the ISO 11127 standard?

The ISO 11127 series has been drafted as a coherent set of international standards on non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives. Under the title of ‘preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products — test methods for non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives’ this ISO paint preparation standard consists of the following parts:  

  • ISO 11127-1: sampling 
  • ISO 11127- 2: determination of particle size distribution 
  • ISO 11127- 3: determination of apparent density 
  • ISO 11127- 4: assessment of hardness by a glass slide test 
  • ISO 11127 - 5: determination of moisture 
  • ISO 11127- 6: determination of water-soluble contaminants by conductivity measurement 
  • ISO 11127- 7: determination of water-soluble chlorides. 

What does an ISO 11127-6 test report cover? 

As a minimum, a complete ISO 11127-6 test report will contain the following information: 

  • A description of the product you have tested 
  • The ISO 11127-6 test results  
  • Any deviation from the test method specified 
  • The date of the metal surface test 
  • The name and role of the tester.
