FTMS 141 a is an FTMS testing standard that was developed to determine the physical and chemical properties of paint, varnish, lacquer, and related materials.
The Federal Test Method Standards were developed to establish standardized paint testing methodologies and eliminate unnecessary or undesirable variation in general inspection, sampling, and testing procedures.
Within the FTMS testing standard there are a number of paint testing methods to explore that cover the inspection of everything from brushing properties, spraying properties and adhesion tape testing through to determining the fineness of grind, drying time, storage stability and nonvolatile vehicle content.
