DIN 53210 is a national paint testing standard that you can use to evaluate a paint or coating’s resistance to rusting.
DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V.), a German standardization body, has developed the use, rules, guidelines and characteristics of around 30,000 standards, including for paint testing.
The DIN 53210 paint testing standard can be used to evaluate how a paint or varnish degrades and how quickly it does so. It will also show you the intensity, quantity and size of common types of rusting defects that you are likely to observe in your coatings over time.
This paint rusting test method is the same in scope and purpose as the methods described through ISO 4628-3.
