Introducing BS 4768 – Industrial Physics

BS 4768 is a global BSI testing method that was developed to determine the bursting strength and bursting distension of fabrics.

The British Standards (BS) are the testing standards produced by the BSI Group which is incorporated under a royal charter, formally designated as the national standards body (NSB) for the UK.

The BS 4768 burst test standard is applicable to textile fabrics produced by weaving, knitting or by felting. The bursting strength test described is valid for fabrics that have been impregnated or coated with sizing materials, rubber or plastics.

What is bursting strength testing useful for?

Burst testing is a catch all term that can refer to lots of different testing techniques. You might also hear it referred to as rupture testing.

Burst strength testing is a great way to find out just how much pressure your materials or components can take. By increasing the pressure level on your products, a bursting strength tester will find their maximum burst pressure and demonstrate where, why, and when they fail.

Burst pressure tests help you to identify weak points in your materials that could compromise safety, quality, or performance

Industrial Physics burst strength testing devices

So, how can Industrial Physics improve your BS 4768 burst strength testing?

Testing Machines Inc. Elmendorf Tear Tester

Messmer Büchel Parker Print-Surf (Single Head) 58-06

Brought to you by Messmer Büchel, our paper testing specialist brand, this industry-leading surface roughness tester inspects your samples according to the Dr. John Parker method.

The data collected from our surface roughness tester shows you how much ink to use and the way it should be applied. This helps you to avoid costly, time-consuming printing problems.
