BS 4468 is a global BSI testing method that was developed to determine the internal tearing resistance of paper.
The British Standards (BS) are the testing standards produced by the BSI Group, which is incorporated under a royal charter, formally designated as the national standards body (NSB) for the UK.
If you want to understand how much resistance it would take to tear your sample apart. Or if you need to have confidence that your material choices will be able to withstand the pressures, they’re likely to face, tear strength testing is a good option. You can achieve an effective tear strength test using a tear tester machine.
While BS 4468 was developed for tear strength testing of paper, the tear test can be used to inspect a range of materials from fabrics, films and rubber, through to woven composites.
So, how can Industrial Physics improve your BS 4468 tear testing?
Testing Machines Inc. Elmendorf Tear Tester
The Elmendorf Tear Tester is an automated tear tester equipped with an optical encoder for measuring the angular position of the pendulum during tearing and converting this measurement to tear units. A large, full-color touchscreen display with intuitive, easy-to-use software provides a revolutionary new approach to testing and data review.
We’ve learnt a thing or two about paper and board testing over the decades. Now Industrial Physics is recognized as a brand that likes to bring new, innovative tear testers to market.
We like to share our knowledge and we’re here to help you to answer your questions about paper tear testing. Across the knowledgebase section of our website we publish lots of blogs on related subjects.
First up, why not try this blog that provides useful information for paper strength testing. Then you could download our whitepaper that covers physical testing application information of paper and board.
