Introducing ASTM D4828 – Industrial Physics
ASTM D4828 is an ASTM industry standard to test the practical washability of organic coatings.
The American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) is one of the most influential standard bodies in existence. Established in 1898, ASTM international exists to develop standardized test methods, specifications, practices, guides, classification, and terminology across a range of subject areas.
The ASTM D4828 washability testing methods help you to determine how easy it is to remove common soil and stains from interior coatings. They recommend manual or mechanical washing with a sponge and a liquid, or powder cleanser.
Why is interior architectural paint testing important?
Organic coatings are subjected to soiling by dirt or other stains. This ASTM D4828 washability testing method provides a way to assess relative the ease of cleaning common stains in homes from paint film samples.
This ASTM D4828 washability testing method includes a way to evaluate the film for washability properties and changes in appearance. A formulator can evaluate the effects of composition on the washability properties of the paint. You can also compare the ease of soil removal from different paints at the same time.
