ASTM D3763-02

Introducing ASTM D3763-02 - Industrial Physics

ASTM D3763-02 is a global ASTM international standard method for testing the high speed puncture properties of plastics using load and displacement sensors.

This ASTM international test method will help you to understand the puncture properties of many plastics - including films - over a range of test velocities. It does this using a falling weight impact tester.

Although sometimes compared, this specification doesn’t closely conform to ISO 6603. They’re both instrumented impact tests, but this is where the similarities end. The differences in striker, fixture, and specimen geometries - plus in test velocity, can produce significantly different test results.

So, how can Industrial Physics improve your ASTM D3763-02 testing?

Instrumented falling weight impact tester

Designed by our plastic testing specialist brand Ray-Ran, this device was designed with the ASTM D3763-02 impact test in mind.

Our falling weight impact tester determines the impact damage and resistance to materials using force and velocity transducers. They provide real time data and calculate the energy and depth of impact.

Conforming to ASTM D3763-02, ASTM D7136 and ISO 6603 standards, our customers use it to test plastics, composites, fiberglass, laminates and ceramics. So, it’s the ideal partner for the automotive, aerospace and construction industries.

Our ASTM D3763-02 falling weight impact tester is ideal for product development and quality control within production, research and development labs and teaching institutions. Smaller and larger drop heights are available as well as larger bases to accept larger pipe diameters and Tup (Striker) shapes.
