ASTM A1064 is a global ASTM international standard that determines standard specifications for steel, welded, plain and deformed wire that’s used to reinforce concrete
It’s an ASTM standard that covers steel wire and welded wire reinforcement. This type of wire concrete reinforcement is produced from hot-rolled rod, which is then cold-drawn or cold-rolled. The wire cold-working process includes reducing, deforming, and straightening.
ASTM A1064 also provides helpful tables of common wire sizes and dimensions.
Deformed wire is an orthogonal arrangement of structural wires of various sizes and spacing. It’s used for welded wire reinforcement and it’s manufactured with ridges, protrusions or indentations. This improves the mechanical interaction with the surrounding hardened concrete.
