The Appita/AS 1301.444s method is an edgewise crush resistance test designed to inspect the strength of pulp and paper samples using the unwaxed edge method.
This is an Australian / New Zealand edgewise crush testing standard brought to you by Appita, a not-for-profit industry association that supports the advancement of the pulp, paper packaging and bioproducts industries.
As one of the most common ways to test the peak load of materials like paper, board and corrugated cardboard can handle, edgewise crush testing – or edge crush testing (ECT) as it’s sometimes known – is a key factor for any good corrugated QA process.
Also known as ECT, this technique is very handy for working out the overall strength and durability of any packaging made from corrugated materials material. The edge crush test is a method of determining the cross-direction force needed to crush a sample of corrugated board to the point of failure.
