TMI Büchel Schmidt Hardness Tester

The Schmidt Hardness Tester delivers fast, accurate, and non-destructive measurement of paper, film, and foil roll hardness. Portable, versatile, and compliant with industry standards, it ensures consistent roll quality for printing and converting processes.

Description

Reliable roll hardness measurement for paper, film, and foil

Developed specifically for the paper and packaging industries, the Schmidt Hardness Tester provides precise, non-destructive hardness profiles of rolls. By measuring rebound values across the roll surface, it detects variations in tightness caused by moisture, thickness differences, or winding inconsistencies, helping prevent downstream converting and printing issues.

Fast, easy, and portable

The instrument is lightweight, self-contained, and designed for portability. Test intervals of 5–10 cm across the roll give immediate insight into hardness consistency. The testing process is non-destructive, leaving only minimal marks on the top layers of the roll. This instrument is ideal for routine checks between roll changes.

Digital and connected capabilities

Modern versions of the Schmidt Hardness Tester include digital readouts and wireless connectivity to mobile apps or Bluetooth printers. Data can be recorded, analyzed, and exported via CSV or PDF, with options for geolocation tagging, images, audio notes, and series statistics.
