Description

Brought to you by Steinfurth, our specialist testing brand for beverage and food packaging, the DIGI VACU is a highly precise digital vacuum tester.

It is used by food and beverage packaging QA labs, vacuum-packaging line operators, and beverage bottlers, including non-carbonated beverage producers using nitrogen dosing who need to confirm pressure levels in sealed packages and closures.

Why it matters

  • Confirms pressure levels before packages reach the shelf. Verify vacuum or overpressure levels on sealed food and beverage packaging, so under- or over-pressurized packages are caught before they affect shelf life or safety.
  • Measures without losing headspace integrity. The front membrane guarantees headspace-free pressure transmission, so your reading reflects the true pressure inside the package.
  • Battery life is greater than 200 days. Test throughout your shift without worrying about downtime for battery changes.

Precise vacuum and pressure measurement

The Steinfurth DIGI VACU is a manual, precise instrument for measuring pressure in common types of food and beverage packaging and closures. It is designed to be highly accurate, ergonomic, and reliable for monitoring vacuum pressure in beverage or food packages. It is microprocessor-controlled and uses a robust puncture mechanism to assess packaging pressure without loss.

Digital vacuum tester options

We have two models of the DIGI VACU to choose from for different measuring ranges:

  • -1 to 3 bar (-14.5 to 43.5 psi)
  • -1 to 10 bar (-14.5 to 145 psi)

How to operate the packaging pressure gauge

The DIGI VACU is simple to operate. Its digital manometer uses an absolute pressure sensor, allowing the user to display either absolute or relative pressure values. For relative measurements, the integrated ZERO function can be used to reference the gauge to the current ambient pressure.

To take a measurement, place the gauge on the beverage or food package and press the sharp needle tip through the container closure. The front membrane provides headspace-free pressure transmission.

This allows the DIGI VACU to measure both positive pressure and vacuum, depending on the selected pressure reference and measuring range.

Pressure test and measurement solutions

We have a wide range of pressure testing instruments and devices to suit your application requirements. For example, we offer a number of analog and digital pressure testers for cans and bottles, or you may be interested in a pressure test solution specifically for bottle necks with the Steinfurth Bottle Neck Pressure Tester.

FAQs

  • The Steinfurth DIGI VACU is a portable, digital vacuum tester that pierces food and beverage packaging to measure pressure directly, confirming vacuum or overpressure levels are within specification.

  • The Pressure Tester range uses adapters to test standard can and bottle formats. The DIGI VACU is a handheld gauge that pierces any package or closure directly, making it suited to vacuum-sealed food packaging and non-standard formats the Pressure Tester adapters don’t cover.

  • Two measuring ranges are available: -1 to 3 bar (-14.5 to 43.5 psi) and -1 to 10 bar (-14.5 to 145 psi), both with an accuracy of ±0.1% FS (full scale).

  • The DIGI VACU runs on a 3.6V lithium battery with a battery life of over 200 days, so you can test over extended periods without needing a replacement.
