Brought to you by Quality By Vision, our advanced vision systems specialist brand, this reliable seam measuring gauge has an adaptive chuck wall angle for perfect measurements.
Double seam defects can dent your reputation and finances. If you make or fill beverage cans the threat of seam defect and product recall is one to take seriously.
There are several crucial elements to get right when seaming to ensure the seam isn’t too tight, or too loose. When defects crop up, measurements are the best place to start.
Double seam thickness measurements reveal where double seam problems lurk. Some companies still use manual seam micrometers, but they don’t work well with beverage cans.
When working with beverage cans the correct angle (chuck wall angle) can be tricky to match. The delicate, flexible nature of the beverage double seam can also cause problems. In the past different operators could obtain completely different results for the same measurement point!
The innovative design of our adaptive double seam thickness gauge was developed to measure thickness at a precise chuck wall angle. By adapting to the chuck wall angle, our electronic seam measuring gauge achieves a highly accurate and correct seam thickness measurement.
The resolution for our seam measuring gauge is 10 microns.
All of the precise automatic thickness readings you take can be transferred automatically into the SEAMetal 9000W system or Symphony data collection software.
Got a food, beverage, or aerosol product that requires a metal container? We have the gauges, testers, and software to reduce the cost of production and increase the efficiency of your canning and bottling processes.
Quality By Vision’s BDG-200: bead depth gauge (food cans) is an accurate, user-friendly digital gauge that can measure bead depth on any size beaded food can.
If you need a manual food can twin blade saw for destructive double seam inspection then check out the TBS-4M: manual saw (food cans).
We like to share the lessons we’ve learnt over many decades of making seam measuring gauges and similar devices.
On the knowledgebase section of our website you’ll find a few blogs on the subject that we’ve published. First up, there’s this one – a frequently asked questions (FAQ) guide to can seam inspection.
After you’ve read that – check you know what to look for when testing, adjusting, and maintaining your canning machines. Ensure that your can seams are precisely measured with our handy guide to essential double seam measurements.
