The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System includes:
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Impact Data Logger converts a drop tower machine into an instrumented impact system.
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System provides the instrumentation for acquiring the analog instrumented tup signal and converting it to digital form for detailed computer analysis by the tupDAQ software. The calculations are precise and have been verified by independent manual analysis.
Instrumented impact requires measurement of impact hammer velocity and this Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System includes and optical sensor unit (Detector Block) and precision double pronged flag, which has been calibrated for interrupt span. The accuracy of this velocity measurement is vital to the reliability of the data array (time, force, velocity, displacement, energy) provided by the tupDAQ software.
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System verifies the conversion factor for the instrumented tup signal output (mV) to force units prior to every impact test. The impact signal capture and graphical display are auto scaled and do not require user input for time force ranges. The National Instruments 16 bit technology provides up to 65536 samples available for each test at 0.305 mV steps of resolution. The sample rate is one each microsecond.
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System utilizes the modular design of National Instruments C-DAQ technology. Hardware updates simply exchanged.
This is an optical sensor positioned for interruption of signal by a precision two pronged flag, attached to the impact hammer. The Detector Block is connected directly to the Ray-Ran Impact Data Logger by a shielded ethernet cable. The two pronged flag causes a fluctuation in the optical sensor signal, which triggers the instrumented tup data acquisition and provides a time increment for computation of hammer velocity from the known Span between the prongs. This velocity is an important ingredient for determination of the impact data array (time, force, velocity, displacement, energy) provided by the Ray-Ran tupDAQ software. The accuracy of the Flag Span is assured by a Transcat (ANAB) Certificate of Calibration. This Ray-Ran tupDAQ System is the only product that provides this assurance of accuracy for the hammer velocity at start of impact.
Built by the National Instruments LabView graphical programming software, the Ray-Ran tupDAQ Software is user friendly and very thorough. The software controls the signal conditioning and the impact data acquisition. The conversion factor for instrumented tup signal output (mV) to force units is verified prior to every impact test. The impact signal capture and graphical display are auto scaled and do not require user input for time and force ranges. The digital data is expanded by basic physics principals (F = ma, and impulse = momentum change) to yield an data array of; time, force, velocity, displacement, and energy. The calculations are precise and have been verified by independent manual analysis. The impact test result is presented in graphical and tabular forms within a fraction of a second of the impact event. There is extensive automatic data analysis, as well as, user controlled advanced analysis options.
***Free software updates are provided for the first year of operation
Why not consider upgrading your existing Impact Tester with the Ray-Ran tupDAQ Impact Data Logger System and tupDAQ software? With backwards compatibility to Windows Vista, tupDAQ can turned old hardware into a state-of-the-art instrument.
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Impact Data Logger System can be an excellent upgrade for your existing instrumented impact DAQ system, or it can be provided with one of our Impact Tester instruments.
The Ray-Ran tupDAQ Data Logger System includes:
The Ray-Ran Instrumented Tup – is the leading edge of the falling hammer in an impact machine. The Ray-Ran Instrumented Tup is the impact force transducer and the single most important component of the instrumented impact system. Instrumented Impact is the technology for measuring the Impact Response of the target (test specimen) when it is struck by the Instrumented Tup. The resultant measurement, is created by the variation of strain at a specifically designed reduced section in the Tup. Calibration is required for converting Tups strain gauge circuit measurement of mV to impact force units in the subsequent computer evaluation of Impact Response.
