Brought to you by Technidyne, our specialist optical, surface, and physical property testing brand, the PROFILE/Plus® Porosity helps you to achieve a uniform paper surface for high-quality printing.
The Profile Plus is the only standalone roughness tester that offers you a built-in paper feed and your choice of porosity and two-sided roughness measurement simultaneously. It also returns results – on average – in under seven seconds
Our porosity tester offers a range of features and benefits to make your testing process as smooth as possible. Here’s how:
Calibrate and configure
The Profile Plus has a unique dummy head system that allows for fast and easy flow verification and simple calibration.
These porosity testers can be equipped to measure either Sheffield or Bendtsen roughness and a variety of paper porosity test reporting units.
Multiple measurement capability
This porosity measurement instrument supports all types of testing. You can choose a device with top-side roughness only, with bottom-side roughness only – or with top and bottom side roughness in one instrument!
State-of-the art measuring heads
Our Profile Plus porosity testing machine has a unique three head design. This provides top and bottom roughness of paper and air permeance measurements simultaneously.
The PROFILE/Plus® Porosity continuously monitors the zero-flow rate to improve measurement accuracy for low porosity and/or very smooth grades. This provides a wide working range to test the quality of various types of paper and board.
Our Profile Plus porosity tester will continually monitor a zero-flow rate to optimize measurement accuracy. It reduces process variability and minimizes false reject decisions to improve PM efficiency and generate higher profits.
Barometric pressure and temperature
The PROFILE/Plus® Porosity tester can compensate for local variations in barometric pressure and temperature, whether it’s caused by a change in mill elevation, or the local environment.
This feature enhances the repeatability of porosity testing. It stabilizes the measurement conditions. It helps to ensure that the correct results are achieved, reducing retests and lowering the overall cost of your paper porosity tests.
Dry diaphragm air compressor
A critical factor of air-leak roughness and porosity testing is to ensure you have high quality air, free from contaminants. This Profile Plus porosity measurement instrument uses a ‘dry diaphragm air compressor’, which means that testing is always performed with lab conditioned measurement air.
Testing with lab conditioned air is important. It reduces maintenance costs and encourages a high instrument uptime, while optimizing results.
The multiple measurement capabilities of the Profile Plus reduces labor costs and optimizes the ability to make process adjustments. This saves on raw materials and improves production by speeding up your roughness and porosity testing.
The selectable reporting units reduce the need for multiple instrument types, which saves money on roughness of paper testing equipment. The NIST traceable laminar flow improves the calibration procedure for enhanced measurement accuracy. This helps to reduce process variability and false rejects, lowering overall costs.
PROFILE/Plus® is a unique building block approach to automated testing. Each PROFILE/Plus® instrument is a standalone instrument that can be easily placed in line with other PROFILE/Plus® instruments to operate as an automated test system. That means you can order a porosity testing machine and be confident it will fit into your existing PROFILE/Plus® set up.
The PROFILE/Plus® Porosity or exceeds the requirements of many international standards, including:
In today’s world of strict standards and high demands, the data needed to assess whether a product meets customer specifications is essential. You can count on our industry-leading Profile Plus machines when the strength and appearance of your paper products is important.
Our expertise doesn’t stop with our porosity tester, we make a wide range of paper testing devices and accessories. Have a look at the Technidyne TEST/Plus® ISO Brightness, for fast and easy ISO Brightness measurement in accordance with ISO: 2469 & 2470. Then there’s the TEST/Plus Gloss 75° degree measurement in accordance with TAPPI T480 and ISO 8254-1.
We like to share the lessons we’ve learnt over many decades of making paper porosity testing devices.
Perhaps you’d like to read a couple of blogs we’ve published? First up, there’s this blog on how to test surface porosity with three techniques. Alternatively, there’s this one on testing the physical and optical properties of paper.
