Brought to you by Technidyne, our specialist optical, surface, and physical property testing brand, the PROFILE/Plus® Bendtsen Roughness with Porosity measures surface roughness and air permeance according to industry standard methods. 

Achieving uniform ink coverage is essential to high-quality printing, and can only be achieved with a uniform paper surface. Our Bendsten roughness tester makes it possible to meet this demand with accurate measurements to help control paper roughness. 

Accurate and configurable Profile Plus testing

Our Bendsten roughness testers are fully configurable. They can be equipped to measure either Sheffield or Bendtsen Roughness and a variety of porosity reporting units. 

The high-resolution flow meter of each Profile Plus device  improves measurement accuracy. It reduces process variability, enabling tighter control specifications. With proper roughness of paper testing you reduce customer complaints, minimize product returns and generate higher profits. 

The Technidyne PROFILE/Plus® Bendtsen Roughness with Porosity offers a complete roughness of paper or porosity analysis solution.  

Rapid, multiple measurement capability

This Profile Plus device supports all types of testing. You can choose a machine to test top-side roughness only, bottom-side roughness only – or both top and bottom side roughness…in one instrument! 

It’s a fast and efficient Bendsten roughness tester. The average seven-second testing process provides quick measurement response and accuracy. 

State-of-the art measuring heads

Our Profile Plus has a unique three head design. This provides top and bottom roughness of paper and air permeance measurements simultaneously. 

The PROFILE/Plus® Bendtsen Roughness with Porosity monitors the zero flow rate to improve measurement accuracy for low porosity and/or very smooth grades. This provides a wide working range to test the quality of various types of paper and board. 

Our Profile Plus device will continually monitor a zero flow rate to optimize measurement accuracy. It reduces process variability and minimizes false reject decisions to improve PM efficiency and generate higher profits. 

Barometric pressure and temperature

The PROFILE/Plus® Bendtsen Roughness with Porosity can compensate for local variations in barometric pressure and temperature. If caused by a change in mill elevation, or the local environment.  

This feature enhances the repeatability of tests. It stabilizes the measurement conditions. It helps to ensure that the correct results are achieved, reducing retests and lowering the overall cost of testing. 

Dry diaphragm air compressor

Air-leak roughness and porosity testing requires high quality air, free from contaminants. This Profile Plus device uses a ‘dry diaphragm air compressor’, so testing is always performed with lab conditioned measurement air. 

Testing with lab conditioned air is important. It reduces maintenance costs and encourages a high instrument uptime, while optimizing results. 

Lowering costs and saving money 

The multiple measurement capabilities of the Profile Plus reduces labor costs and optimizes the ability to make process adjustments. This saves on raw materials and improves production. 

The selectable reporting units reduce the need for multiple instrument types, The NIST traceable laminar flow improves the calibration procedure for enhanced measurement accuracy. This helps to reduce process variability and false rejects, lowering overall costs. 

PROFILE/Plus® automated test system 

PROFILE/Plus® is a unique building block approach to automated testing. Each PROFILE/Plus® instrument is a standalone instrument that can be easily placed in line with other PROFILE/Plus® instruments to operate as an automated test system.
