Description

The TQC Sheen Lory Viscosity Cup (VF2199) is a long-handled efflux cup with a single-hole nozzle and a needle-point flow-time indicator, developed for shop-floor viscosity checks on paints, lacquers, inks and other fluids at the point of application. As the sample flows out of the small hole, the flow time is recorded from the moment the needle point first appears – a mechanism that suits thicker materials outside the working range of standard dip cups.

The cup is used by paint and coatings manufacturers, printing-ink producers, adhesives makers, industrial finishing applicators, and R&D formulation labs for viscosity testing across a wide 50-1100 cSt range – covering materials that fall above the practical band of the DIN 53211 or ASTM D1200 Ford dip cups.

Design note: the Lory cup is a proprietary TQC Sheen design and does not reference an external testing standard such as DIN 53211, ISO 2431 or ASTM D1200. If your spec sheet requires a named standard, use one of the corresponding TQC Sheen standards cups instead – the Lory sits alongside those cups for internal comparative work and for materials that fall outside their ranges.

Why It Matters

Bring your thicker materials into a single QC workflow. 50-1100 cSt covers thick paints, adhesives, and higher-solids formulations that fall above the practical range of the DIN 53211 (No. 4) or ASTM D1200 (No. 4) cups. Same shop-floor workflow, one cup, no rotational viscometer needed for routine checks.

Read the flow time by mechanical indicator, not eye judgement. The needle-point mechanism gives operators a clear “flow-time starts now” cue when the point first appears – reducing operator-to-operator variation on visually judged stream-break endpoints.

Hand-dip in, no separate sample vessel. Long loop handle for direct immersion in the paint pot or mixing tank. Fits the same stopwatch workflow as the rest of the TQC Sheen dip-cup family, so training carries across.

Pouring out our viscosity cup expertise

Industrial Physics has been making viscosity cups like these dip/immersion type cups or laboratory type cups for many years. In fact, we make lots of different viscosity cups of all different shapes, sizes and for all manner of viscosity test types. Why not check out our range of dip/immersion type DIN 53211 viscosity cups, or our range of ISO 2431 Viscosity cups.

Calibration and ongoing support

Every TQC Sheen Lory Viscosity Cup ships with an engraved unique serial number and a 1 year parts and labour warranty as standard – our Industrial Physics group commitment across all brands. Individual serial-number calibration certification against traceable certified oils is available on request for QC programs that need documented traceability per cup.

Bulk order coverage: contact Industrial Physics support for matched serial-number sets, consolidated shipping to production sites, and quotations in USD, GBP or EUR. Regional service teams cover technical support and operator guidance across all 12 Industrial Physics brands.

Features & Benefits

  • 50-1100 cSt working range – covers thicker paints, high-solids coatings and adhesives that sit above the practical band of the standard DIN and FORD dip cups.
  • Needle-point flow-time mechanism – a mechanical, unambiguous endpoint cue that reduces operator-to-operator variation compared with visually judged stream-break readings.
  • Long loop handle for hand-dipping – drop the cup into the paint pot or mixing tank, no sample decanting.
  • Brass zinc plate cup with steel frame – lightweight (130 g) and rugged enough for daily shop-floor use.
  • Engraved unique serial number – full traceability per cup for internal QC records.
  • Hard plastic storage case with soft interior – protects the nozzle geometry in transit and between shifts, keeping your calibration record valid.
  • Easy to clean between samples – standard solvent flushes.
