Manufactured by C&W within our TQC Sheen brand, the C&W Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet is a programmable environmental test chamber built to deliver accelerated corrosion testing that reflects how coatings and substrates behave in service – not just under continuous salt fog.
Used by automotive OEMs and their coatings suppliers, aerospace and defense manufacturers, offshore and marine engineering firms, electronics manufacturers, metal packaging producers, and paints and coatings laboratories, the cabinet supports quality, R&D and production teams whose corrosion decisions must hold up against automotive OEM specifications and international standards.
The cabinet is manufactured from specially formulated fire-retardant glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) with high chemical and temperature tolerance, and is corrosion-resistant throughout. Apex lids are available in a range of composite materials and are supported by gas springs; a wet or dry seal option and removable lids and base frames make delivery and installation in restricted-access areas straightforward.
Corrosion data that stands up to automotive OEM and international audit. The cabinet supports testing to ASTM B117, ISO 9227 and 12+ automotive OEM protocols including Ford EU B 153-2, Nissan NES M0007, Renault D41 010, Toyota TSH 1555G, VDA 624-415 and VW PV 1210 – so pass/fail decisions are defensible with customers, certifying bodies and internal quality management systems.
Model real-world corrosion, not just steady-state salt fog. Programmable cycles combine salt spray, dwell and ramp, high humidity, air purge, forced air drying and dry heat – so R&D and materials engineers replicate the wet-dry-thermal transitions that actually cause corrosion in service, rather than accelerated failure modes that never occur outside the lab.
Robust, low-maintenance uptime. GRP construction is corrosion-resistant throughout, the peristaltic pump and atomizer are engineered against blockage, and consumables (filters, tubing, spray gaskets) are stocked as spare parts – so the cabinet runs when the production or R&D program needs it, and downtime for maintenance is predictable.
The cabinet provides a full range of environmental test conditions, selectable individually or in any programmed sequence:
The user-friendly programmable logic controller lets you combine any of these conditions in any sequence, for any pre-set duration. The cabinet can also be operated in single mode as a Cyclic Prohesion Cabinet, CASS Cabinet, Conventional Salt Spray / Salt Fog Cabinet or Humidity Cabinet – so one instrument replaces what could otherwise be several dedicated cabinets.
Every unit incorporates a microprocessor controller capable of holding up to seven programs with unlimited event entries, plus an end-of-test cycle counter. The sophisticated atomizer delivers even salt spray distribution and precise collection rates throughout the chamber. Salt solution flow is controlled by a variable-speed heavy-duty peristaltic pump and flow meter – ensuring accurate collection rates and preventing atomizer blockage.
Protection against overheating and low water is built in as standard. A dry / moist air facility supports rapid transitions between test regimes with minimum fluctuation, and the filling and sterilization entry is easily accessible to prevent algae buildup. A fully adjustable water temperature control with digital display is included, with an optional low-level alarm system available.
Three series are available, each in five chamber volumes:
Chamber volumes: 200 L, 450 L, 750 L, 1000 L and 2000 L – sized for sample throughput from single test panels through to full component assemblies. Your TQC Sheen C&W specialist can advise on the right series and volume for your standards, sample sizes and site constraints during enquiry.
Each Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet is supplied with:
Optional accessories are available – contact us to discuss your test protocols and consumable requirements.
The Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet supports accelerated corrosion testing to a wide range of international and automotive OEM standards, including:
ASTM B117 – Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Apparatus
ISO 9227 – Corrosion tests in artificial atmospheres, salt spray tests
CCT I, II, IV – Cyclic corrosion test protocols
Ford EU B 153-2, Nissan NES M0007, Renault D41 010, SWAAT and MASTMAASIS Honda 5100Z, Toyota TSH 1555G, VDA 624-415, VW PV 1210 – automotive OEM cyclic corrosion protocols

Genuine TQC Sheen C&W spare parts and consumables keep your cabinet running to specification:
When you enquire about the Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet, our TQC Sheen C&W specialists will confirm which standards you need to test to, review your typical sample sizes and throughput, and recommend the right series (SF/CCT, SF/CCT-E or SF/CCT/VH) and chamber volume (200 L to 2000 L). They will also confirm site requirements – the cabinet’s compact design and removable lids and base frames simplify delivery to areas of restricted access.
For purchasing teams, we provide clear model references across the three series and five volume options, quotation turnaround, and the technical documentation you need for internal sign-off. After delivery, our team supports installation, first-use walkthrough (programming test cycles, calibrating collection rates, setting up alarms) and initial operator training – so your team gets consistent, defensible corrosion data from day one.
Every Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet is supplied with a 1 year parts and labour warranty as standard. Subject to agreed maintenance procedures, a 2 year warranty is available. Beyond the warranty period, the Industrial Physics global service network supports scheduled preventive maintenance, genuine spare parts and technical support – so the cabinet stays productive across its working life. Contact our support team to arrange a service, request spare parts, or discuss the extended warranty and maintenance agreement options in your region.
Operator training is available covering programme setup, cycle sequencing, salt solution and collection rate calibration, and interpretation of test results against ASTM, ISO and automotive OEM protocols – so results stay repeatable between operators, shifts and sites. Our global support network means help is available wherever you operate.

Regional standards including JIS K 5622-7 and Unichem 692 and 741 are also supported.
Continuous salt spray testing (per ASTM B117 or ISO 9227) exposes samples to a constant salt fog at a fixed temperature – useful for baseline corrosion resistance screening. Cyclic corrosion testing (CCT) alternates between salt spray, high humidity, dry heat and air purge phases in a programmed sequence, replicating the wet-dry-thermal transitions that products actually experience in service. Automotive OEMs typically require CCT because it correlates more closely with real-world corrosion failure modes than steady-state salt fog. The TQC Sheen C&W Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet supports both single-mode salt spray operation AND multi-condition cyclic protocols in one instrument.
Choice comes down to sample size, throughput and control requirements. The cabinet is available in five chamber volumes – 200 L, 450 L, 750 L, 1000 L and 2000 L – covering everything from single test panels to full component assemblies. There are three series: SF/CCT for standard cyclic corrosion testing, SF/CCT-E for cyclic corrosion testing with Eurotherm control, and SF/CCT/VH for cyclic corrosion testing with variable humidity control. Your TQC Sheen C&W specialist can map series and volume to your standards, sample sizes and site constraints during enquiry.
Every cabinet ships with a CW4088 Installation kit, a CW4035 Collection Vessel set (2 funnels, 2 cylinders), 5 kg of salt with certificate, a CW5882 pipe adapter and a VF7101 Corrosion Handbook. Consumables and spare parts including Peristaltic Pump tubing, Salt Solution Filters, Spray Gasket/Washer and the Annual Consumables Pack are ordered separately based on your usage cycle. Optional accessories including alarm systems, additional collection vessels and specialist test fixtures are available – talk to us about your test protocols.
Every cabinet is supplied with a 1 year parts and labour warranty as standard – our IP group commitment across all brands. Subject to agreed maintenance procedures, a 2 year warranty is available.
