The TQC Sheen Conical Bend Test is an easy-to-use laboratory instrument available in both Basic and Pro and capable of bend testing panels in order to assess the elasticity or resistance of a coating, paint or varnish to cracking, elongation and/or detachment from a metal test panel. Both models carry out a mandrel bend test in accordance with ISO 6860 and ASTM D522, making them an ideal choice for conical mandrel testing.
During bend resistance testing, the test panel is bent over a conical shaped mandrel, and, through its deformation, it is possible to examine the elasticity range of a coating over any diameter between 3.1 and 38 mm in one single test.
We have two different models available to offer:
The Basic model is a lighter and more simplified version of the Conical Bend Test Pro.
With the Basic model, the sample panel is secured by means of two clamping knobs that have to be tightened and loosened by turning respectively clockwise or anticlockwise.
With the Pro model, the sample panel is secured by means of a quick lever handle that locks and unlocks the panel in a split second, with a simple manual movement.
The conical mandrel bend tester is fast and efficient. It can be used to assess a wide range of inks and coatings on a variety of metal test panels, making it a useful component of any comprehensive QA process for laboratories and manufacturers. This type of bend resistance testing is particularly useful for the automotive industry, where smooth paint jobs are key, and for the developers of paints, inks and coatings for a multitude of uses.
