Brought to you by TQC Sheen, our specialist paint testing brand, the AFA compact automatic film applicator is suitable for both wire bar and block applicators.
Our versatile film applicator machine is suitable for charts up to A4 size and the application speed can be set from one to 150 mm/s. You get guaranteed and repeatable film application, so it’s ideal for laboratory experiments. Plus it can be equipped with an interchangeable glass or perforated vacuum bed.
The TQC Sheen automatic film applicator takes control of variations in speed, pressure and direction of ‘draw down’ irregularities. It stabilizes such problems and also ensures that the results are protected from influence by the shear rate or weight of the applicator.
The result is that you can have complete confidence that the film thickness is even over an entire surface. This means that samples created with our automatic film applicators are reproducible.
When researching a sample’s appearance properties, the quality of the applied film is important. If you’re preparing samples for testing abrasion resistance, hiding power or gloss then you’ll love our automatic film applicator! Whatever the test, our devices will keep any variation risks from rheological properties, application speed or pressure to a bare minimum.
All of our automatic film applicators can be used in combination with either standard block type film applicators such as Bird and Baker models, or spiral bar type film applicators (wire wound rod type). We also make multiple types of applicators for either glass, paper or metal substrates and foils.
It’s so easy to start up our film applicator machines and set the right test duration. With a flick of a switch the AFA Compact is ready for action. The automatic internal calibration kicks in and you can set the duration on the easy-to-read digital display. When you’re ready to apply your paint – just press start!
Our film applicator machine is simple and mess free to use, whether you’re working with the glass bed or vacuum bed option. Both are designed for minimal waste. We recommend you use a piece of paper to collect any surplus paint as shown in the user manual, but you can also use the easy-clean drip pans our film applicators come with.
The TQC Sheen automatic film applicator is designed to perform to the highest international standards, including ASTM D823.
Across the Industrial Physics portfolio we have plenty of automatic film applicators, simple film applicators and accessories dependent on your budget.
On this page you’re looking at the compact model of our TQC Sheen automatic film applicator, but also be sure to check out the standard version we make as well.
