Developed by Testing Machines Inc, our specialist physical properties testing company, this industry-leading heat sealer is also a heat-seal tester and hot-tack tester!
When you need to determine the ideal sealing conditions for your packaging films, the SL-10 heat sealer provides all the critical information you could ask for.
Our hot tack tester’s touch-screen computer allows you to rapidly change key parameters including pressure, temperature and dwell time. While the built-in dual load cells measure the actual force applied to a film.
The computer controlled temperature is assured to ± 1.1°C (± 2°F) across the entire width of the film sample. Our heat sealer is equipped with a powerful computer that automatically compiles and graphs your accurate test results.
You can easily recall and view stored hot tack test results. The handy printer and data ports let you create reports and communicate information quickly and accurately.
The automatic sample loading tray of our heat sealer guarantees accurate test results by eliminating the scope for human error. Our loading tray inserts your samples without variation, while enhancing safety.
The heat sealer comes equipped with a variety of communication ports for fast and accurate reporting. Test results can be communicated by Ethernet, USB devices or sent to an external printer. There’s even convenient keyboard, mouse and external monitor connections.
Our clever heat sealer can export test results and parameters to Microsoft Excel®. So you get a graphical representation of the data, individual test results, averages and any standard deviations.
With the software to rapidly change key parameters including pressure, temperature and dwell time, while the built-in dual load cells measure the actual force applied to a film this provides an indication of if a package can withstand internal pressure and the maximum internal pressure required to cause failure of the package seal.
If there’s other standards you need to work towards then get in touch – we’re certain we can help!
We make a range of hot tack test method devices and accessories. For example, check out the Testing Machines Inc Heat Sealer TS-12 75-58 or the Heat Sealer TS-4 with Interchangeable Seal Jaws 75-59.
We like to share the knowledge we have amassed over the decades at Industrial Physics. Why not visit our blog on the types of testing used in flexible packaging or this one that covers some hot tack testing FAQs?

Proper calibration of your inspection devices is essential for a long and accurate life of service. A leading pet food manufacturer discovered this when shoddy servicing created a raft of problems with their burst and creep testing equipment.
Our experts quickly identified and rectified the pre-existing problems. Now, they’re delighted to rely upon a trusted test and inspection partner with Industrial Physics.
Scott Chambers, Quality Technician at Mars Inc., said,
“I was very happy to be one of the first companies to participate in the mobile calibration program. Ryan Moreno was my technician and was very personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The calibrations he performed were very efficient. I like having a technician on site one on one to answer any question I had. Also, not having to ship my BT-Integra units was a major plus. looking forward to future visits at Mars Petcare KKC.”
Modular expansion unit for use with the SL-10 base system - this module expands the SL-10 capabilty to include full range hot-tack and seal testing.
