Automated smoothness tester

The BEKK Tester determines the smoothness of the sample in BEKK seconds. This instrument is especially suitable for very smooth surfaces such
as coated label papers or coated free sheets for the rapid determination of the smoothness of paper and board using the Bekk Method.

Smoothness tester applications and materials

This air leak smoothness tester is useful for very smooth surfaces, for example, coated label papers, coated free sheet, or other very smooth papers. It has an open throat design that makes it easy to rapidly set up and test large samples as well as small ones.

Bekk smoothness testing

The Bekk smoothness method is paper testing technique used to determine the smoothness of a paper or board surface. It is a fast and efficient testing method that measures the smoothness of a paper or board surface under vacuum conditions.

Estimated Test Result

The smoothness tester also offers an Estimated Test Result, to help you determine the likely outcome. It’s designed to save you time when setting up a new test series and choosing the pressure interval and volume setting. It’s also perfect for doing a quick single test to see what the value of the paper approx. will be.

The ETR value is calculated after the test has been started (50.66 kPa) based on the rate of rise of pressure. After 10 seconds the ETR value is displayed. During the test the ETR value is constantly re-calculated and updated until the ETR value at 48.00 kPa is the same as the final test result.

Meeting Bekk Smoothness testing standards

We know how important it is to be certain that the test and inspection solutions you choose match up to the accepted standards of your industry. That’s why the Automatic Bekk Smoothness Tester is suitable for industry standard testing methods such as DIN 53107, ISO 5627 and TAPPI T 479.
