Offset Yield Testing

Offset yield, also known as proof strength, is an arbitrary point on the stress-strain curve that is applied to samples where the true yield point is not easily defined. Steel and Aluminium alloys may not clearly show a yield point, so the offset yield is calculated. It is normally expressed as a percentage, such as 0.2% offset yield. United offers our customers a variety of test systems and accessories, along with our DATUM 5.0 software package which will give our customers the ability to perform this advanced materials test calculation.
