Quality Standards Used by Car Manufacturers

While there are many key standards that are required by the automotive industry as a whole, each manufacturer also has their own set of quality standards to abide by. These quality control standards all need a specialized testing process to match.  

Get a little insight into the standards used by some of the top automotive manufacturers in our quick guide.  

Ford testing standards 

Included in Ford’s quality standards are: 

BN 108-13. This standard is around the resistance of materials to scratching. We help Ford meet it with the use of products like our TQC Sheen Taber Multi-finger Scratch MAR tester. 

EU B 153-2. This is a Ford approved standard for testing for corrosion and can be achieved with products like our Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet 

Toyota testing standards

Corporate standards set by Toyota include: 

TSH 1555G. This is a general purpose atmospheric corrosion test which comprises of 3 alternative 24 hour single cycles. Its needs are met by our Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet. 

General Motors testing standards 

A general testing standard set by Global Motors is: 

GMN3943. This testing standards assesses the mar and scratch resistance of plastics and is serviced by products like our TQC Sheen Taber Multi-finger Scratch MAR tester. 

Nissan testing standards

Corporate standards set by Nissan include: 

M0007. This testing standard allows Nissan to measure the degree of rusting, blistering and adhesion when materials are introduced to adverse conditions and can be achieved with our Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet. 

MO159 Supplement U01-1. A testing standard around the scratch resistance of plastics for Nissan vehicles, which can be met through testing with products like our TQC Sheen Taber Multi-finger Scratch MAR tester.
