Tensile Testing

Tensile Testing Solutions

Tensile strength testing involves pulling a sample apart until it fails and then measuring the amount of effort involved – the tensile strength of the sample. It’s a broad term that refers to all types of force and materials strength testing applications that follow this process.

Performing tension tests to identify the point of failure across your chosen sample is critical when assuring the integrity of your material. And luckily, we know a thing or two about this widely popular test method of strength testing.

Types of tensile strength tests

There are many types of strength testing procedures and applications that fall under the umbrella of tension tests. These include: pull testing, adhesion testing, ductility testing, elastic limit testing, stress testing, and tear testing. You can use these methods to measure a number of properties – from ultimate tensile strength, break strength and stress, to strain and elongation characteristics.

You can inspect many different types of material with tension tests. You can work out the big stuff – like the flexural strength of concrete, or the compressive strength of concrete. If you work with lighter materials like paper, corrugated, foil, and tissue we have tensile strength testing devices to reveal the strength of your samples. Or perhaps you work with metal cans? We make strength testing machines that show you how much force is required to pop and tear an easy open food or beverage end or peel off end – click here to find out more.

A universe of tensile strength machines

One of our industry leading UTMs will give you complete control over your strength testing and tensile tests to ASTM standards.

Set any critical test parameter to meet the ASTM standard you’re working towards: from test speed to crosshead displacement – and calculations such as peak / average force or average. Any of these inspections can be set and controlled using our software-controlled devices, which come in a variety of models to suit a wide range of products and test scenarios.
