It’s not too hard to define…the rockwell hardness scale shows you how hard your materials are.
Our rockwell hardness scale testing devices make hard inspection problems easy. They evaluate the hardness of a sample by measuring the depth of penetration of an indenter.
So what is the rockwell hardness test? Hardness is a characteristic of a material rather than a fundamental physical property. It’s defined as the resistance to indentation, and it’s determined by measuring the permanent depth of the indentation. When using the rockwell hardness scale, the smaller the indentation after applying a fixed load, the harder the material.
Our rockwell hardness testing devices are non-destructive and ASTM compliant. Our machines are fitted with a diamond cone or hardened steel ball indenter. There are even precise rockwell hardness scales used for polymers and plastics.
One of our popular rockwell hardness scale testers – the United Testing Tru-Blue II Rockwell Hardness Tester – uses innovative digital controls and a high-precision load cell to give you highly accurate penetration measurement data.
Our rockwell hardness scale machine comes with five pre-set load dwell times including NIST and plastics. It gives you consistent, computer controlled application of forces and it meets all NIST, ISO, CE, ASTM requirements. Find out more by clicking here.
