Oxygen Process Analysis

Systech

Process oxygen analyzers are used to verify oxygen levels of metals across a range of industries. And at Industrial Physics, we’re here to provide solutions for a wide breadth of organizations – just like one company that have been manufacturing tube and duct assemblies for the aerospace industry for more than two decades.

Ensuring bespoke needs are met

This particular organization was responsible for producing a vast number of tube and duct assemblies per month, and to make this happen they use a wide variety of materials including aluminium, steel, titanium, Inconel, and other alloys.

For this business, manufacturing products according to customer’s specifications is critical to their offering, and since their inception in 2001, the business has been providing solutions to some of the biggest aircraft names in the world. Meaning that quality simply cannot be compromised.

The business is operating in a highly competitive market and so to continue their success they decided to invest in in state-of-the-art CNC equipment and 3D modelling systems – allowing them to continually offer their customers the highest quality products in a timely manner.

The solution

But in order to continue offering first-rate solutions, the oxygen levels within their welding stations must be accurately monitored.

Thankfully the Systech ZR810 process oxygen analyzer allows monitoring to take place in a controlled fashion. Oxygen concentrations as low as 20ppm can cause oxidation of certain metals at high temperature – ultimately, this can create discontinuities and reduce weld integrity. Something that would have a drastic impact on the products being provided to aerospace customers across the globe.

In addition, interstitial absorption of these oxides can cause the product to become brittle and render them useless. Further affecting the quality of our customer’s end product.

However, by monitoring oxygen levels via a controlled process through the ZR810, this both limits waste and increases efficiency of the welding stations.
